One of the biggest problems, vaginal dryness, is a common yet uncomfortable problem. One of the vital hormones for vagina health ensures the elasticity of your vaginal tissues, the production of natural lubricants and protection against infection. When your hormone levels decline, the vaginal lining becomes thinner and your ability to produce lubrication becomes less efficient. All these can contribute to the pain and discomfort you experience.

Now I'm sure you'll agree... it's good to finally know exactly WHY you're suffering.

But a fast, safe, effective solution would be even better, right?

I am a 19 yr old heterosexual female that enjoys sex very much but sometimes my vagina gets extremely dry during intercourse. This started about a year and a half ago and it does not happen all the time but when it does, its about half the time, and it is uncomfortable beyond belief for me and the man that I am with. Is this a disease? If so, what is it called? What can I do to stop this problem? Maybe is it hormones? I know I am definitely turned on and I always try foreplay so I don’t see what the problem is. This is a very embarassing situation and I feel like it should not be happening at all!!

Hormonal imbalance during menopause or the years preceding menopause can cause vaginal dryness, as can hormonal imbalance following childbirth. This hormonal imbalance is caused by a decrease in normal estrogen levels which can cause the walls of the vagina to become dry. Women in menopause with severe vaginal dryness should talk to their health care provider about a prescribed estrogen cream to be used vaginally.

But I doubt you are going through menopause at 19 so my other ideas why you are becoming dry during sex are:
-Maybe if you are on BC pills, they can cause a hormone imbalance in your body which stops the natural lubrication in the vagina.
-If you are nervous (I doubt that was the case since you said you like sex very much)
-If you are not turned on enough
-Using a condom may make vaginal intercourse difficult without the addition of a vaginal lubricant such as AstroGlide, K-Y Jelly, and other products. Saliva is an acceptable for vaginal lubrication; however, never use a petroleum-based product such as Vaseline (petroleum products can cause deterioration of condoms and also may create a breeding ground for vaginal infections)
    Good Luck.

I have the same problem and I havent been a virgin for several years. When I have sex Im very wet at first, then it get really dry especially when using condoms. i actually think i may have a bad reaction to condoms because when my husband and i do not use condoms, i have no problems and i am able to orgasm. anyway my vagina is also very tight and some times i cannot take too much pounding and im wondering if the dryness and tightness and sensitivity is all related?
